Cattery Work

It is a common misconception that volunteering in the Cattery consists solely of playing with the felines; this role is physical, sometimes dirty work and can also be distressing, therefore, is not suited to everyone.

MANUAL CATTERY WORK

⦿ General animal husbandry.

⦿ Carrying heavy litter sacks and bin bags.

⦿ Brushing and mopping floors.

⦿ Working alone or as part of a team, therefore using your initiative and following instructions is essential.

⦿ Answering the front door and dealing with the general public.

The manual cattery work is mainly carried out in the mornings. Afternoon volunteers are also needed with evening feeds etc.

DRIVING

VETERINARY RUNS

This is a task for people who are confident and feel they can take responsibility - Conveying cats from the cattery to the Veterinary Surgery and back safely.

⦿ Understanding instructions and relaying them correctly to both the Cattery Staff and the Vets.

⦿ Collecting prescriptions.

HOMING OF CATS

Training will be provided with this role - Delivery of cats to new homes.

⦿ Ensuring they settle and the new adopter has any queries answered.

⦿ You must have the ability and confidence to deal with the general public and follow instructions.

GENERAL DRIVING DUTIES

⦿ Transporting volunteers to and from the Cattery (mainly Sundays and Bank Holidays)
⦿  Collecting donations
⦿ Shopping (cat food etc.)

FUNDRAISING

⦿ Assisting the sponsorship secretary, organising events, obtaining sponsors for the website etc.

⦿ Selling raffle tickets, normally three times per year.

⦿ Helping at the annual fete.

⦿ Making items that can be sold to benefit the Charity.

⦿ Suggesting fundraising ideas.

Dotty

Dotty is a sweet and gentle black-and-white girl, born in February 2023. Currently living in a loving foster home, she’s now ready to find her forever family. Dotty can be a little shy at first, so she’s looking for an experienced, patient owner who can give her the time and love she needs to settle in. She loves a fuss once she feels comfortable and would be happiest in a home with another friendly cat for company.
